OK I know I will get a lot of flack for the bubbaizing I plan on doing on this 1909 Mauser. First let me say this rifle was rechambered to 30-06 in the 60s by Sears. They chopped the stock as well. Who ever had it previously must have started to sport it out.the receiver has been tapped and the original bolt had the knob broken and severely rusted bolt body. We replaced it with a 98 Gwer bolt and checked headspace. The bore is sharp but stained. All of this being said I have chosen to make it into a shooter that I can cast my own bullets for as it has a 30-06 chamber an the original .312 bore(I slugged it).I am going to send the bolt out and have it turned down and scalloped for a scope. My question is to the experience here is what mount and what safety works the best for yall? I have been looking at a few and what will work well with a scope? I am thinking a 2 position wing style safety that will curve around the bolt is the way to go. Any information about scope mounts and safetys is greatly appreciated.
