OK I know it has been long over due but I had my 1st maiden flight with my Splinter V today. I had hold ups in flying due to waiting on parts and I havent fully secured the top plate because Im having issues with the buzzer and I dont have the FPV equipment installed yet. But I wanted to see how she flew and see if I needed to adjust the PID settings. Well it was very windy today. So I knew trying to auto tune this thing using Cleanflight was out of the question. So I just wanted to see how it flew stock. And guess what? It flew AWESOME!!! The best flying experience to date out of all the quads Ive built... From my Diatone 17# which was just horrible. Then next my ZMR250 which was better but still challenging. The Splinter V flew like I envisioned flying a quad should be. Even though it was very windy and I thought that would be a problem because the frame is so light it cut through the air like a night. It made the DYS1806 motors I have it it feel responsive and punchy. Where as on my ZMR250 the frame feels like a kite where Im constantly fighting the wind and jumpy EMax ESCs.... either its rocketing to the moon, stuck in the breeze or plummeting to the earth. With the Splinter V when the wind catches it I just adjust and it responds... no fighting... no up and down yo-yoing.... it does what I ask and it does it responsively and with snap. But it flies smooth too. Im loving this thing. I cant wait until my camera comes in and I figure out why my low battery/discovery buzzer keeps beeping. So I can connect it and seal this thing up and really get after it and have some awesome FPV flights. This thing is a joy to fly and is what I thought flying a quad was supposed to be like. When it goes down it just bounces lightly off the ground. When my ZMR goes down, its almost guaranteed to have broken props and missing parts. As Im still a noob Im sure Ill be able to fly the ZMR250 in time but for now my Splinter V is my favorite build to date and I cant wait to get more time in on the sticks with it. youtube/watch?v=TJGMUk8JiqQ&feature=youtu.be
