OK...I saw Roseys status post, and now Id like to tell the rest of the story. The part Rosey left out. Rosey and I pulled into the parking lot at the gym for our Monday morning workout (it was about 11:30AM, and HOT, almost a 100 degrees). Rosey said, Mom, theres a dog in the back of that pickup truck. I said there was no way anyone would leave a dog in the sun, in the back of a pickup truck, for who knows how long, while they go into a gym and workout. I told her it must be a tarp or something. She said, Tarps dont move, and have fur, Mom. I looked again and it was a dog, a Great Pyrenees. At that point, I freaked. We got out of the car just as an employee of the gym pulled up. She too was upset. I took pictures of the truck, license plate and the dog in the back, while Rosey climbed in the truck (with a strange dog), looked at her collar, got a name and phone number then I ran inside to have them page the owner. We waited with the dog...and waited. The dog, was on the verge of collapsing from the heat, and Rosey again climbed in the truck and wet her down with our water. While we were wetting her down, another patron of the gym stopped, and she got upset. Then another employee came out just as I was pulling the dog off the truck to take her inside (Rosey had gone inside to see if theyd found the owner). The 2nd employee was UPSET, too. I took the dog inside the gym and the owner finally came, smiling and acting as though hed done nothing wrong. He laughingly took his dog, without one Im sorry, and walked back out to his truck. Thats when I lost it. I got ANGRY! I followed him outside and WITHOUT swearing, or telling him where to go (I want to be clear on this), I told him that I had his information and wasnt adverse to calling the police, and if he knew what was good for him he would take care of his dog properly and NEVER, EVER leave her like that again. He got about 4 inches from my face and I honestly thought we were going to get into a fist fight right then...except, my beautiful, always the calm in the midst of the storm daughter, came up behind me, and he backed off, as Rosey pulled me back with my mouth still running. Rosey is the true hero. She noticed the dog...when how many others walked right on past her? Rosey jumped in the back of the truck (I cant climb because of my knees), to handle a strange dog under serious duress...thats brave. And, even though my mouth has a tendency, in situations like this, to overload my common sense, Rosey had my back when I was thoroughly expecting to get pummeled by this 64 very angry man. So, dont let her kid anyone. Rosey truly is the hero in this story. The world is such a better place because you are in it, Birdie-girl. Thanks. Love, Mom.
