OK, I think were ready to call it a day. Literally. The last pages are uploaded to the site and should be visible as you read this. Zlatan Marić didnt finish 24 pages, but he got 15 solid pages completed (plus a 16th started). We broke the rules just a little for his: I scripted his pages in advance, and took background photos for Whats Up, Dock? a few weeks ago. But he did yeoman work, not only rising to the challenge of coloring the figures on those 5 pages, but also coloring Road Triptych, a 1-pager. Not bad for a compuphobe, eh? By going the full 24 hours, Zlatan qualifies as a noble failure under 24-hour-comic rules. I took just about every shortcut in the book – photographic elements, repeated panels, copy-pasting a figure from one page to another, entire pages with just a single panel on them, missing backgrounds, a chopped-off page, a deal with a minor demon, and some frankly very sketchy art – but I finished by the appointed deadline. If I may say so, the gimmick of having each page represent an hour of a single day was a stroke of brilliance, forcing me to find creative ways of making the sleeping hours and the working hours entertaining. It ended up being a good crash introduction to the early part of the JAQrabbit Tales story, while Zlatans pages focused on the more recent events. Most importantly, we both had a lot of fun, which I think is evident on the pages. And now it is after midnight, and well past time for sleep. Perchance to dream of drawing.
