OK I told you guys I would tell a story about Regina Hill that some of you may or may not know. Last summer I ran into her and she told me she was running for office and was looking to put a team together. We discussed media parts and marketing, and she was straight up that she was a grassroots but was adamant about running for D5 commissioner. I told her to let me know when she had some money and we would talk again. I spoke with a mutual friend about her and her campaign and he told me point blank she was facing very long odds of winning. So i spoke with her and told her would be able to help a little and she said anything i could do would be appreciated. One year ago in September I went to Mercy Dr. with her because she was so upset. She found out that people were being thrown out there apartments in 3 complexes on Mercy. I met her at the Old Pepper Tree Apt. with my camera so I could document what the residents were going through so we could let the news and the public know. I watched Regina Hill go to every door and speak to every resident who has home and still occupied their apartment...not one door.... every door and building from the front to the back. I watched here call everyone she could think of and ask for help and no one came, no community agencies, not one county or city commissioner or other elected officials....NO ONE. I watched her stand there and cry after speaking with an elderly lady who had no one to help her, and had no idea what to do. I watched help go to the next complex, and help load furniture on a moving truck and make more phone calls. She did get in contact with an elected official who told her the residents had been living rent free for month and given $ 250.00 moving expenses to help them move…. I watched her have security run up on us to make us leave because we were “trespassing”. I will never forget how this woman stood up for people with no voice and no one that really cared and would rather blame people for their circumstance rather than help. I wanted to be a part of helping her from that day. I know that what people are seeing right now is the REAL Regina Hill, I know that her desire to help is REAL. I have watched her get off from work and go to see about someone who needed help, I have seen her out of here feet during the campaign because she was so tired. I know that she lost 20lbs from her small frame, I and the rest of the team that supported her saw her out work us twice as hard. She has not stopped since she has been in office, I have watch what I know to be the power of Godly redemption move into her life and restore and promote someone who was obedient and put others above herself. I have told her to slow down, she told me to shut up, we have argued and disagreed, but I know that one thing is for sure she is exactly what and who we need for a time such as this….
