OK Im going to climb up on my soap box for a minute. Feel free to delete this post off of your feed. Im talking cheer. Where to begin? To say I am proud of the JPWs the coaches, parents and the Metuchen Bulldogs organization would be an understatement. As some of you know, Metuchen cheer has gone through some turmoil within the past two seasons. This season the word around town was that there wasnt even going to be a cheer program. Some families didnt really care whether or not we had a cheer program, others decided to move on to other organizations or other sports/activities but there were still some who wanted to stay and cheer in their town. That was enough for the board and some families/ town people to come together to try to save our program. We werent focusing on the competitions we just were trying to revive dismantled cheer program. We started back at square one. We managed to get two teams for the girls to cheer for. There were lots of struggles and bumps in the road but to quote someone who has lived, breathed and coached cheer for years..... onward and upward! Our little town did just that! Even though this organization started this spring without a cheer director, coaches or any team moms we decided to continue full speed ahead. We needed a new cheer director, coaches, team moms and demos to step up and help out. ( we had 2 coaches who decided to stay to help and I am eternally grateful to them for that) The board worked vigorously at securing those positions and off we went! Our ONLY expectation was to try and give the girls a fresh, great, new experience with the Bulldogs. Who new what what was in store for us. The girls, coaches and demos came together and as the season progressed, they got into their groove. By the time states came around we saw that this little town who almost didnt survive, not only survived but exceeded all our expectations. They moved on to regionals and competed against 27 other teams. Our girls took 1st place!!!!! That gave them the opportunity to compete for a national title! I never in my wildest dreams thought, after all the transition that this could happen! But there is something to be said about the determination and dedication of these young athletes. They decided what they wanted and they went for it! I am so proud to say that they took 2nd at nationals today and had highest jump scores!!!! I cant wait to see what we can grow into next season! I LOVE you girls and YOU made Metuchen proud! Thank you for cheering for The Metichen Bulldogs! Thank you parents for your continued support! Coach Kelly
