OK, Im not minimizing whats going on across the country nor denying the fact that racial profiling exists, but does all profiling have to be racial? Dont we ALL make judgments at first glance? After all, we are visual people. Mrs. Obama said she was mistaken for an employee at Target. I have been too! Was that racial profiling? Maybe I shouldnt have worn that Target red sweater while shopping there. LOL If I were to walk down the street in a denim jumper with 8 kids trailing behind me, certainly a whole lot of people would make snap assumptions about me. Thats not racial. Many of their assumptions will be wrong, but its just the way humans sort information based on previous experience or information. The key is that first impressions are often wrong and we all need to be willing to look at people as individuals and be willing to learn & admit we were wrong. And we need to be not so easily offended when someone does make an assumption. Just something to think about. Thanks, Barb Simeon. I couldnt have said it any better myself!
