OK! Its Tuesday morning and you are running late to open your store or business and you break a key off in the lock. Unfortunately, now you are going to open late because you have to find a locksmith and keep your fingers crossed that you call an honest one that will not only show up on time, in a marked vehicle, but also that doesnt overcharge you after quoting a service charge that sounded too good to be true but you liked the price. Believe me when I say that we, just like you are trying to make a living with our careers and just like anything else, if it sounds too good to be true! it likely is! More than 50% of the companies you will find advertised are scam companies trying to take extreme advantage of you in your time of need! Often to the tune of 4 to 5 times more than something should have cost. Here are some helpful hints for finding a reputable locksmith! Make sure we answer with our company name. If they just say LOCKSMITH, huge red flag! We should have a marked vehicle and be wearing clothes that identify us as our company representative. If someone quotes you a really low service charge like $19 or $29, then more than likely you will pay through the nose for labor. For instance, customer told me they were quoted $19 plus minor fee for a house lockout during weekday afternoon and that minor fee was $ 280 on top of the $19. That is more than 3 times the going rate for picking open a single lock on a home but the low service call had appealed to the customer. Buyer Beware! Dont be afraid to readdress the price once on location and they have seen the job, they should be able to be more specific with the cost. Most will quote you an exact price that will stand unless the lock cant be picked. Research us before you need us and then program your favorites into your phone. Read our reviews!
