OK. Ive now had the chance to read this article and think about it a bit. Heres my take. It is probably the case that the sponsor and supporters want to open the door to questioning evolution and global climate change in science classes, and, to the teaching of creationism there. However, the bill doesnt authorize that specifically and its difficult to know what the actual effect of the bill will be. What science teachers should do, if the bill is passed, is be prepared to address these issues saying: The overwhelming scientific evidence supports both evolution and climate change. Science has nothing to say about Creationism because its a theological and not a scientific concept. Science neither supports nor challenges it. I dont think science teachers can or should avoid these issues. Maybe the bill authorizes them, in fact, to take on, as science teachers, the non-sense in the political world.
