OK, Marbles were not a strictly Baby-Boomer toys, they had been around a long time, but we sure got our share of fun from them. I have a fair number of mine left, heres a sample. The Marble on the far left, a Yellow, Blue swirly one was in our Parakeets cage for years. Tippy, as he was known a Green and Yellow, loved that Marble. He rolled it all over his cage with his beak for many hours. The clear ones with a colored streak were called Cats Eyes, the all metal ones were steelies. I cant remember what we called the oversize ones. Does anyone remember? (After I wrote this, I was reminded by Michael Brawner that the oversize ones were called a TAW.) Look closely at this full size photo, youll see tiny chips and wear. These were down in the dirt, hard played with boys toys! The two smaller, solid red ones were actually part of a check valve GE made while Dad worked there. The oversize Black one reminds me of an Alien planet. Planet Ebony, from outer space!! It would have made a great drive-in movie!
