OK My friends lets hear the debate- I am all for doing what ever we can to help our Earth. My reaction is very based on being a winter lover and promoter of skiing. I also know that my family and friends in Florida, California, Oklahoma, Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and of course here in Utah are effected FAR beyond the issue of not enough winter or snow. At best this will make some real and drastic changes- (loss of some jobs-yes) BUT this will promote other forms of energy (and CREATE new JOBS). It will also provide bargaining leverage in international talks when the U.S. asks other nations to curb their emissions ( China ). We, the U.S., have the lowest emissions pledge of any developed country. Yes we are way behind many other nations in yet another area. Presumably you know that the antarctic has lost tons of its ice. You know there have been heat waves, crazy hurricanes, thunderstorms, and tornadoes. Did you know the snow pack in California mountains shrank by 86% in just one year? And that means more drought and more forest fires. Did you know that the rise of deforesting insects has risen dramatically due to the warmer weather? Oh that means less oxygen for us to breath- But since this loss of oxygen is a natural process there is nothing to do but spray large areas with chemicals- NO NO NO- we can actually do other things that make it harder for the insects to live- COOL down our earth. We have been warned (by plenty of natural disasters not just formal reports) that water is growing scarcer in the driest regions of the U.S. and heavy rains are becoming more common in the wettest regions- the cause being climate change. My suggestion- if you are worried about losing your job from this new policy, then get right out there and get involved with the new policy companies- solar and wind- They will be the future.
