OK PEOPLE OF OROVILLE LISTEN UP! Our town has been referred to the as the armpit of (town remains unmentioned) for much too long! It’s time we celebrate in the beauty and history that surrounds us. We have a lake that draws people to swim, ski and float on. We have the Feather River that many come to fish, raft and kayak. We are surrounded by water and amazings bike trails, plus we have boating at the Afterbay and the Forebay which just so happens be home to the CSU Aquatics Center (great place by the way). We have Table Mountain which is the most breath taking place to hike and view wild flowers. We are a short drive to Bold Rock, which in my opinion is the closest place to heaven one can get. We have wonderful wineries and antiques shops and business that go that extra mile and when approached for donations give whole hearted. We have great bands filled with amazing talented people too. We have great schools both public and private, plus we have a junior college. I see people that travel in and out throughout the day for either school or work. I see families that make this their home, but I don’t see the ugliness that would make people say that we live in an armpit. I am proud to say I live in Oroville and I realize that our community has its share of problems, but what town doesn’t? Oroville can’t be that big of a pit if people come here to partake in all the beauty and activities it has to offer, so until our town starts growing hair and smells like a pit...I will remain proud of my town and so should you.
