OK. So considering that libertarianism rests on the two principles, mainly, (1) property rights and (2) non-aggression (where aggression is defined as the initiation of force, fraud, or threat thereof against a person or their property), from which, one could apply to any situation to see what the just outcome should be (for example: You stole my shoes (aggression). Therefore, if I can prove that I, indeed, own those shoes (property) then the justice would be for me to be allowed to use force to get them back) ... Liberals/Progressives/Leftists in general: What are the most basic fundamental axioms on which your political philosophy rests- the filters through which all relationships, situations, etc. would be run to see what the just outcome should be? Conservatives/Tea Partiers/Right wingers in general: Same thing. What are the most basic, underlying principles on which your political philosophy rests? What makes up the filter through which all situations should be run to see what is a just outcome? Please only answer the one that is closest to your own ideology. I would ask that you not write a story either. Try to keep it concise and understandable. A list would even work just fine. I am very honestly looking for the answer. From my position, if I am honest, there does not seem to be any actual principle at work on either the left or the right (when I consider that if a principle is applied in some areas and not others that it is, by definition, not a principle). From my perspective, it seems that both sides simply want certain things (things that are not principled, as they are not enforced to all people), want them applied to everyone (even if they disagree), and are willing to use government (force) to get them.
