OK. So not only is today a beautiful day but it is a special day for me. Let me take you back to just over 2 years ago... I was unemployed, my EI had just been cut off prematurely, and I had no plan for what my future of employment might entail. I prayed hard, dug my heals in and kept sending out resumes. I got a call from a temp agency called Drake Intl. and I thought what the heck, for the time being even though the pay is gonna be not so good I need to keep working. My placement at the time was an answer to my prayers even though I was completely blind to it. They sent me to the Toronto LCBO distribution warehouse where I toiled away. There were a few guys who thought I wouldnt make it through the first week because I was terribly out of shape and it is backbreaking work. But I stuck with it and met some great people there throughout the placement that I still stay in contact with. Last August I was asked by the GM of the facility if I wanted to work for the company as an actual employee in the union. I of course said YES!. From then it was a long stretched out process of back and forth. I was then asked if I would be willing to move to Durham. Which I then again said YES!. I went through the proper application process in November as they had to do everything by the books and in December I went for an interview. January I did my physical and late February I got the call! The whole time grinding it out making 11 dollars an hour. My GM had put in a good word and kept his word. I started as a union employee and legit LCBO employee on February 24, 2014. Today I will clock my 700th hour which will kick me into a higher pay grade which I wont see until the beginning of September as a retroactive bonus but it signifies the fact that God had a plan for me even though I did not and that through hard work every single hard and grinding day that hard work does and did pay off. Thanks to my lovely wife, family and friends who always stuck by me and kept pushing me and rooting for me even on days when I wanted to give up. This is for you. I love you. Today is a great day.
