OK. So we have a continuing decline in kiwi population of 2% per annum and its called conservation has presided over this with 1080 as its tool of choice. There is a tragedy here of breeding them in captivity and releasing them to die - knowing that will be their fate. The hands-off approach of poisoning the environment is never going to be a success - it hasnt worked in over half a century of trying to fine tune that approach to creating a healthy ecosystem. This article gives us hope of a change for the better.
