OK, before I take a much needed 3 or 4-day hiatus from all this, all this. . . all this EVERYTHING in St. Louis, Id like to throw out a few things: 1. Mike Matheny didnt lose this series/postseason. . . the players that he put in those positions did. That doesnt mean that he shouldnt be held accountable for some managerial blunders, but at the same time, these are big league players that should make big league, big time plays when called upon. They didnt. 2. Ive never exhausted my voice/body more than I have over the past 2 weeks hosting pep rallies, post-game parties, being a dad, husband, coach and juggling all that is my life. . . but I wouldnt change it for anything else in the world. Im very fortunate to do what I do, have what I have and live what I live. Thank you Cardinals Nation, Cheri Barr Thomas and anyone that is my friend. 3. Moving forward, I think you should know that there is a difference between being a fan and cheering for a particular team. If a Cardinals fan roots for or cheers for the Royals in the World Series, that doesnt mean that Cardinals fan is a Royals fan. Plain and simple. In easier terms to understand, when you watch the Super Bowl, most likely, your team is not playing, however, you decide ahead of time who you want to win and support them (cheer for them, root for them, bet on them, etc.), but that doesnt mean you are a fan. Get over it!! GO ROYALS!! 4. Ive always been an eternal optimist, and I truly believe the following. St. Louis and the surrounding community (#ferguson) cant handle a World Series right now. We are a broken city that needs to be fixed and having the national spotlight here next week would only make matters worse. WE need to work on US. We need to heal. Few people truly know what really happened on that tragic day that Michael Brown was shot, but many have made it their focus to believe what they want and cast judgment on the other side. Im not gonna say much more on this matter, but we are broken as a city and its time to focus on fixing it. What can you do to help? 5. We are blessed to have such an incredible organization as the St. Louis Cardinals in this town. We definitely are a baseball town. However, baseball season is over. Go support the St. Louis Blues. Go support the St. Louis Rams. Go get ice cream with your kids. Kiss your wife. Drink a shot of Fireball with a homeless person. Dress up as Hunter Pence for Halloween. Poke your ex-girlfriend on Facebook. Make a smoothie. Enjoy the rest of the best month of the year (October), call your parents and tell them you love them. Live life. . . and, lastly, Ill leave you with this. . . at least youre not a Cubs fan!! Cheers Facebookers, Todd Thomas. . . OUT!!
