OK, crazy idea maybe. There are roughly 287 million aged 50 and over but not yet on Social Security. If the government gave each one a million dollars with the stipulation that they must build a new house and quit their job, we could solve a lot of problems at once, at a fraction of the cost that we are spending now. This would free up millions of jobs for the unemployed. This would definitely stimulate the economy with all these people building houses ( also stimulating all of the manufacturing jobs for materials, appliances, carpeting, etc.). The construction trade would flourish as would their suppliers. Many of them would help their children with this money through paying for college or buying their own home. Thereby increasing the education of the next generation and possibly slowing down the rate of homelessness. The banks would have a hand up with this sudden increase in their accounts. Im by no means a mathematician so give me your thoughts.
