OK folks , another half hour and the years shortest day will be done with. I have been here 35 years now , in this beautiful village of Waterbeach and have seen it go through huge changes. Tonight I am raising my concerns as someone had made a statement that this village has a history of being governed by Bullies. The village is in a middle of a huge dispute between the Waterbeach Parish Council Chair and a group of people who live here who are very unhappy about how the village is run. At the last Elections the previous regime lost power but people say they are still at large manipulating activity. There has been a lot of turbulence at the time of the previous regime which became unpopular and as a result lost the elections ! Previous parish Clerk was sacked and resorted to litigation for unfair dismissal . Should she succeed in court and awarded costs the parish council will have to find a sum in six figures in total. The peoples group claims that the previous regime has acted negligently and recklessly as the assessment of risk was recorded at 49% . The insurer for the parish refused to provide cover for failure at litigation but the parish still perused without cover . Also the lawyers for the Parish refused to act as the risk assessment was too low and the risk has now become a reality. The people of the village are accusing the chair that there is a lack of consultation . The mater has reached the SCDC monitoring Officer who is the new replacement for the English Standards Board for a solution . The situation has torn this village apart . The Peoples Group are determined to claim all costs from those involved in acting recklessly. This is my understanding of this dispute where I gathered information from a number of face book pages mainly Waterbeach Matters and from people in the village. Tonight on the shortest day of the year I feel so sad as to the state of our village , the only relief are the glories of Christmas to look forward to . Good night folks !
