OK folks, time to resume our countdown of past international Quartet Champions. In 1971, two farming brothers from Cass County Missouri, Calvin and Willard Yoder, became the lead and bass respectively of a new quartet, Rural Route 4. They first qualified for internationals in 1976, finishing 21st. Jim Bagby joined the quartet as baritone in 1977, and Don Kahl as tenor in 1983. They managed three top ten appearances up to 1984, and cracked it for their first medal, fifth place, in 1985. 1986 was the big year though when, to their own surprise, they claimed the gold. Before Lunch Break and their deformed farm, Rural Route 4 had their own version of Old McDonalds Farm, and were delighted to share it with you now.
