OK, for my friends who HAVE already had total hip replacement: before you get the surgery done , what do you do for the pain, immobility, etc. without serious painkiillers or without stretches that will cause quicker deterioration? I seem to be fine one minute when doing things that I would THINK would leave me writhing on the floor but ends up being fine, but then a slightly long walk will mean that I wake up nearly immobile on that side. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what makes it worse or better. Right now, after a longish walk last night and only light dance today followed by heavy lifting for work, my left side is throbbing. Yet, the other night after a TON of dance with a lot of jumps, kicks, etc., whether I marked it or tried to go full out, I felt almost no pain or stiffness or weakness. I need good , solid advice for getting through a summer of running, light to moderate dance and general work stuff. Im already starting to feel like that guy, and I friggin dont want to. Lori Leshner? Others?
