OK.,four other books in Temujins home library that I very highly recommend: 2,000 most Challenging and Obscure Words by Norman W. Schur. This book contains such gems as sesquipedalophobe (something I do not want Temujin to be),enthymeme and desquamate. I give this book a very high recommendation since the author took the time to discuss the etymology of the words. 90% of the words in this book are from Latin and Greek. While some may consider words such as these to be,in the words of Sir David Attenborough, cumbersome and pretentious obfuscations, it is words such as these that constitute an international lingua vernacula among the highly educated. The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy by E.D. Hirsch JR. is another good one.This book is divided into segments such as Bible, World History, Mythology and Folklore,etc. Amo, Amas, Amat, and More:Using Latin to Your Advantage by Eugene Ulrich is a book we could not live without. It is not only erudite it is truly mvltvm in parvo .This book contains around 2,000 Latin words and phrases used in everyday English,Law,Literature,etc. The Highly Selective Thesaurus for the Extraordinarily Literate also by Eugene Ulrich is the companion to The Highly Selective Dictionary for the Extraordinarily Literate. This book absolutely kills any other thesaurus. I cant say enough in praise of this book. This book combined with The Highly Selective Dictionary for the Extraordinarily Literate and 2,000 most Challenging and Obscure Words along with good,challenging reading will give Temujin the vocabulary he needs to speak highly-educated, fluent English and the ability to read good,difficult books with comprehension.
