OK friends - sometimes life is interesting. A year or so ago I attended an event at a lovely restaurant, hosted by a womens organization. Appetizers had been purchased for members and their guests, prizes had been donated for some drawings, etc. Two women that I did not know came and sat with me and my guest at our table for four. They were drunk, obnoxious, and after helping themselves to appetizers one was so drunk she was spitting food all over us as she talked. They also put their cards in the drawing and one of them won a donated prize. Finally I asked them how long they had been a member of this organization and they said What? Who? Oh - we dont belong - we were just at the bar and saw you were having a party and thought we would crash it. wth? Recently I attended a professional event and this woman (the drunk one spitting food all over us) was there. She was still talking about her business and how she was still trying to get it off the ground. She did not recognize me and I didnt say a word. But heres my word to the wise - crashing an event uninvited, eating their food, winning their prizes is theft in my book! I dont have much to say about them being so drunk because Im pretty sure Ive been the drunk lady at one point (or another). :) Good reminder that its probably not a good idea in a professional setting.... I do believe in karma though - the law of the universe - you reap what you sow, you give and receive. Sometimes I think that people dont realize when you steal (amongst other bad behaviors) you probably wont prosper in other areas (like trying to start/grow a business). Its just the way it works. What I do love about these laws of the universe is this: it works the other way too! You cant out-give God. The giving of time, money, encouragement, when prompted by your heart, will never return void. I think we would all be amazed if we were able to really connect the dots and see how this works!
