OK, further experiments with hardware. In my last video I replaced wheels and posts with vintage correct BRASS posts and wheels. But, vintage Les Pauls did not have brass studs and inserts, both were steel, most modern guitar have brass. So in my guitar the studs were brass and the inserts cheap pot metal or zinc. So I replaced the brass studs with STEEL, and left the zinc inserts for now. The brass wheels, posts, and studs were ok but all that brass emphasized higher frequencies and the pickups heard all this too well, the guitar became too jangly for me. So, in the end I think the combination of brass wheels and posts, and steel studs and inserts, AS VINTAGE LES PAULS HAD, is the ideal. When I put the steel studs in, I noticed an immediately improvement in feeling the guitar resonate with the strings much stronger now. The strings now sound more balanced and warm.....more to come, enjoy....
