OK here comes the hokey part again. Every year at this time I assess my place in the world and how I got here. Stephen King himself couldnt create a more bizarre scenario, but unlike Kings stories mine just kept getting better and better. It is difficult, at times, to look back on individual events and see how lucky I was to be there but when all of these episodes are linked together, I end up here. At no point in my life did I ever expect to be this happy. Im one of those who learns from his mistakes and man oh man have I been to school. It is amazing that anyone can screw up as much as I have and even live through it. Well, I not only lived, I flourished. I owe most of that to the people who have been instrumental in my life. You know who you are, at least I hope you do. The list is far too long to reproduce here. There is no way I could have come this far without you. You have shown me what is important and what to ignore. You have shown me how to enjoy and appreciate the gifts life has to offer. You have shown me how to survive the emotional devastation that life often throws our way and to grow from it. You have shown me how to love, laugh, cry, console and forgive. You have shown me how to trust and allow the currents of life to lead me by exposing and opening myself up to those guiding energies. I can look back and see how I got here. Thats easy. What I cant do is string together why. I must be the luckiest SOB on the planet because my life gets better every year. It is already way past anything I deserve and I cant imagine next year being anything but even more amazing. I refuse to have it any other way. Thank you to everyone who loved me, hated me, helped me, hurt me, opened up new paths and blocked old ones. I owe each and everyone of you more than you could ever know. You are my teachers and I will continue to do my best to learn from you. Happy New Year. I wish you you peace, grace and love. Stop and look around every now and again. Dont let life pass by unnoticed.
