OK, heres a description of the trio (thanks to Gina for requesting it --and mucho love to you as well). These are nicely edgy, sour-sweet songs, written for grown-ups. - Michael Upchurch, The Seattle Times Seattle super-harmonizers Uncle Bonsai are the Tim Burtons of folk music, dark and hilarious but with moments of great insight and beauty. Singers Patrice ONeill, Arni Adler. and Andrew Ratshin, also the trios guitarist and primary songwriter, present an often dizzying vocal relay of intricate harmony. The group aligns itself with the underachiever, the dejected, the outsider, the self-downtrodden, in densely-packed lyrics that fly by in a whirr at times and take a skewed stance on topics such as first-world problems, the creation of the universe, the afterlife, and holidays with family. A little like Stephen Sondheim linking arms with Tom Lehrer, with harmonies by the Beatles. Or Frank Zappa cross-bred with Peter, Paul and Mary.. Uncle Bonsai comes to the Duplex for two shows featuring songs from their most recent release, The Grim Parade, their new bedtime book for parents, The Monster in the Closet/Go To Sleep, their upcoming release, The Family Feast, and over 30 years of performing and recording. The Duplex is a great, intimate, venue and seating is extremely limited; tickets are only $20 and will go quickly! [Please note: The Duplex is an over-21 venue & there is a 2-drink minimum per show]
