OK, its been a couple of weeks now without the like button and I will never click it again. I am seeing posts from people that I have never seen a post from before, I am getting far fewer ads and a much wider range of articles, and I am engaging in more positive conversations! Before, when I would like something (especially something political or spiritual) I would often get drawn into some debate as I saw people comment on the post with a dissenting opinion. Now, without the like, I comment only when I am compelled to say something and it has totally changed the conversation. One thing I did notice, though... I had wished someone a happy anniversary on a post in which a ton of other people also commented. I clicked the stop notification button and now have not seen any posts by that person at all. So I guess I will just suffer through those notifications in the future.
