OK, let me see if I got this straight: North Korea protests a movie relating to the assassination of the North Korean leader (that apparently got nods of approval from the state department for its propaganda value). Someone hacks Sony. It is rumored to be North Korea, but evidence is mounting that it was not and in fact related to a disgruntled employee (or group thereof). The movie is shelved after the hackers (who have shown tremendous capabilities as hackers but no abilities as terrorists) threaten to attack theaters showing the film. After everyone collectively goes WTF?, the movie is released and is apparently a horrible collection of anus jokes. The FBI still maintains it was North Korea but arent coming forth with any compelling evidence (to be fair - the only really compelling evidence they are likely to have would be a smoking gun pointing to the USs hacking activity into North Korea. In spite of the evidence, President Obama takes economic sanctions against North Korea as 1) They are about the only thing that have worked before with North Korea in the past 2) The sanctions against Russia seem to be working (in conjunction in the price of oil being cut in half). 3) There is enough other stuff that the US is annoyed about with NK that we arent especially worried that the justification we are using is complete BS. 4) Merika!!! North Korea gets (arguably righteously) peeved about the sanctions that are being justified by something North Korea probably didnt do. In its ire filled reaction, it refers to Obama as a monkey. This racist comment coming from a nation that has been none too subtle about its xenophobia and racism *for decades* pisses off the American Left (this - and not the nuclear brinksmanship, the provocative actions, the ongoing kidnapping of Japanese, or the horrendous things that country imposes on its citizens - is what pisses them off???).
