OK, my recap of last nights Queen + Adam Lambert concert. It was pretty freakin EPIC! All the haters were proven to have nothing but sour grapes, and Im glad the did this tour. It helps pay bills when all the royalty checks dry up...and that has happened for EVERYone in the songwriting industry. Many of these members were involved in that process throughout Queens career in some way or another, and I would much rather see Brian and the other guys getting some compensation than the new Songwriting Machines that create Hits by committee for Beeber and Rhianna, etc. Though Freddy has passed on, this was such an awesome tribute to his genius. At times they blended in old video shoots with the live playing, and the effect was stunning. Im not one to get up and jump around at concerts. Im just too damn cool for that :-) But before the night was over, I was jumping around, shouting the lyrics at the top of my already hoarse voice, and shaking hands with the small community of Queen Lovers around me. Of course, Adam Lambert was among the best vocalists Ive ever seen, period!, he also was incredibly respectful in the way he delivered Mercurys lines and lyrics, and he would break loose into some things that were brain-bending awesome....as if he was actually channeling Freddy. The band really does love his contribution, and it is very mutual, and very visible. Among the highest points were his and the bands renditions of Another One Bites the Dust, Killer Queen, (Lambert was in full-on Mercury at this moment), Who Wants to Live Forever, Radio Gaga, Fat Bottom Girls, Love Of My Life, Tie Your Mother Down, Somebody To Love, ending with We Will Rock You, and We Are the Champions. They pulled another unreleased song that Freddy wrote called Love Kills...just beautiful. Some songs turned into rousing sing-a-longs, even Bohemian Rhapsody was accompanied by an audience that must have been rehearsing for as many years as the band. Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed the whole show, Brian Mays Guitar solo interlude, and undeniably on of the best concerts Ive ever been to. It is now tied with the David Bowie concert Lets Dance tour, and Peter Gabriels So tour. All three of these were like Broadway on Acid. :-)
