OK, now that my mind is clear and free of all the Hobbit Fever I can give a more honest analysis of this third installment of Tolkiens magnificent story as interpreted by Mr. Jackson. BLAH! 1. The quality of the film seems to be far above 4K, so much so that its super realism detracts from the film and for me, made it look more like footage from one of those afternoon soap operas. 2. The special effects....SUCKED. The scene where Sauron is banished looked more like one of those old Godzilla film destruction scenes, or maybe a 1950s aliens from space scene, it was SOOOOO bad. 3. The film appeared hurried, leaving huge gaping holes in some places, which only those of us who actually read the book could take note of. For example, would it have been SOOOOO much effort to show when Bilbo digs up the troll treasure? Rather lame to show him on his way home without the treasure in one scene and then out of nowhere hes carrying a small treasure chest!!! 4. Much of the acting was ....for lack of words, tired. And some of it was outright ridiculous, for example, in the beginning during the battle with Sauron, there is Gandalf about to be whisked away, half dead, and for no logical reason he reaches out to Galadriel, Come with me, my lady! What the heck? This isnt a love story involving a wizard and a stately elven woman! 5. Going back to the special effects, Galadriels ugly transformation as she put forth all her power to banish Sauron Godzilla 60s movie style was SOOOOO idiotic, it made me feel like I was having to sit through Napoleon Dynamites EMBARRASSING dance sequence AGAIN! 6. As for the actual Battle of the Five Armies, I felt no excitement, no thrill, no anticipation, no nothing. This Battle of the Five Armies had about as much UMPH in it as did the parrot in the Dead Parrot skit by Monty Python. Very highly disappointed in this third and final installment of The Hobbit. Peter Jackson has disgraced JRR Tolkien with this absolutely unflattering finale. Thank goodness he has promised that this would be his final Tolkien project. I dont think I could bear another horrible rendition of any of Tolkiens magnificent tomes!
