OK people. it comes a time where an ERG player needs to ask for help, and this is it for me. I am stuck in a massive rut with my 8 string playing. i use EBEADGBE tuning, and i have a solid understanding of odd time signatures and generally speaking solid rhythm writing skills. can write in 5/4 6/8 7/8 no trouble. but i do feel that i struggle to come up with interesting riffs lately and i seem to only do boring chord progressions and cant seem to shake it...... i have a bit of trouble remembering modes with the 8 string and i would really like to make my riffs a bit more aggressive and a bit more interesting all the same. i would like to write more prog stuff. more monuments periphery type stuff really and seem to be stuck into Meshuggah and Tool territory :( might go for a cry lol Please help me
