OK, so I do love a good Tea Party...LMAO!! But seriously, folks...lets just use the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim as an example. A 2005 report says they have 20,000 employees. So, lets say 75% - or 15,000 - are paid minimum wage. If they were mandated to increase minimum wage by just $3 an hour heres what that would amount to: 15,000 jobs x $3 = $45,000/PER HOUR! An 8 hour shift makes it $45.000 x 8 = $360,000/PER DAY. 365 days per year x $360,000/day = $131,400,000 PER YEAR. Disney World Resort employees up to 50,000 folks, so 75% = 37,500 minimum wage employees. 37,500 x $3 =$112,500/increase per hour x 8 hour day = $900,000,000 x 365 days in a year = $328,500,000. add these two locations together and it equals $459,900,000. FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY NINE MILLION, NINE HUNDRED AND NINETY THOUSAND DOLLARS...to increase minimum wage by just $3 an hour, for just ONE large company. In contrast, Disneys top six (6) executives we paid compensation in total of $59,368,775 (2013 report). So, even if the top tier worked for free, it wouldnt begin to cover the minimum wage increase. So guess who REALLY gets to cover this minimum wage increase? (Hint: he/she looks just like YOU!)
