OK...so I was in the kitchen doin the dishes and the TV is on and Fast and Furious 6 is showing. When the tank scene came on, I had to stop and watch for a bit. I wont get into the reality moment when the girl flies off the top of the tank and Vin Diesel dives across a bridge span and catches her in mid-air landing on the windshield of a car with no injuries... But here is my reality check moment for some math wiz: The final action scene starts with the guys chasing down a cargo plane (I think it was supposed to be a Russian Antonov 124, but looked kinda like a C-5, but I digress). Heres the math problem. The plane comes into view on the runway at X:56 and gets blown up at X:10 which is 14 minutes in duration. The cars trying to pull down the plane with cables (more reality check) look like they were going pretty fast since a C-5 can take off at lowest speed probably 75MPH. But for math purposes (because I am right-brained)...lets just say they were traveling 60MPH. Over 14 minutes, that means at 60MPH, they traveled 14 miles on that runway. Now, the longest commercial runway in the world is 18,045ft (someplace in China). The unpaved runway at Edwards AFB is 39,600ft. There are 5280ft in a mile. So 14 miles is 73,920ft. So...I am thinking there is NO WAY this scene is real. Even if they were traveling at the planes slowest takeoff speed (75MPH), the distance traveled in 14 minutes would be 17.5 miles! Thats 92,400ft! Somebodys makin stuff up around here...
