OK so Im a little nearer the plan of attack on the foot. I go for my 2nd pre op appointment with two surgeons, in just under 2 weeks. My hip surgeon conferred with the other two foot/ankle surgeons that the hip had to be soup before we carried on with the next two, perhaps three surgeries. The first will undoubtedly be the ankle is to be fused. The second is to break the little foot bones and reposition and put them back together. The possible third is once the foot is A OK, the knee must be aligned to the new improved (hopefully) foot. If it is not aligned thus the third and again hopefully last surgery. All the work done at Childrens in Seattle has now failed, and must be repaired in order to maintain adequate and the very best mobility I can achieve. Exercise in water is the best and only answer for the best outcome. I know this, from the early age of about 4 to beyond, Ive been a swimmer all my life. The water temperature is so important. If its too cold, the legs and feet dont want to move, and need rubbing, if its just right, its amazing the agility one can achieve. Thats my optimum goal is to achieve the most agility and mobility I can have. I do yoga and simply skip the ones that balance is an issue, and double up the ones that Im FABULOUS AT. That is how its done, you take risks in surgery and they have to tell you those risks, they have to let you know what possible problems could arise, including blood flow to the foot. I was told what could ensue if that happened, and many think its too big a risk. For me it isnt, the big risk is living the rest of my life with mediocre mobility or even less. I wont settle for that, I wont throw in the towel that fast. I have to give the drs. a shot at improving my quality of movement and life. Otherwise I cant say I gave my all, and I will give my all. So I guess Ill report as time goes by, and hope you will all celebrate with me, when my foot is stable again, and my walking is improved, and next summer I go to my 50th class reunion. ON BOTH FEET!! Oh and DRIVE my little VW shifting up a storm!! One last, thank you to anyone and everyone who has supported, written to me, let me know you care, and for all your love. It doesnt go by unnoticed. I cherish all of it.
