OK, so at the behest of my wife, some of the folks I work with, and our supervisor, I went to urgent care today to get this head cold checked out...I did the whole wait three days and if no better go to the doctor which my wife always goes by...so anyway...Fat Jesus hauls his butt to the doctor and lo, it wenteth to Hell in a Handbasket fairly quickly...As follows: Doc: Whats going on with you? Me: Coughing and occasional pain in my chest after a hard cough...more winded than usual, figure I have a sinus infection, what can you give me? Doc: Pain in your chest and winded? (Remember coughing and congestion?) I want an EKG. Me: Can I have a tissue I need to blow my nose(blows nose) Thanks! Doc: Do you have any pain in your arms? Me: Well yeah, after a hard round of coughing I get a little pain in my chest and a tingling sensation in my arm. Doc: I want an EKG. Me: Well, get yourself one. Doc: No for you. Me:OK So they run the EKG and the EKG is clear, they check my lungs and my lungs are clear, meanwhile Im working my way through a box of tissues clearing my sinuses out. The doc comes back in after the chest X Ray(which was clear) and tells me I need to go to the hospital because I have an undetermined unknown and undiagnosed heart condition. I said how do I get there? I can drive myself as long as I promise to go to the ER. Sure. Thatll be $50.00 for the copay. Me: can I have an antibitotic for the sinus infection. No its my heart again the unknown, undiagnosed heart condition. I paid my copay, drove to Walgreens, got a bottle of Nyquil, some Mucinex and Tylenol...if this doesnt work my next trip is to the liquor store. I know the difference between a sinus infection and a heart attack, Ive had both, sinus infection at least once a year, and heart attacks twice. And my wife wonders why I wont go to a doctor...
