OK, so this will be considerably shorter than the initial, intended version because Ive cooled down some since last night. It seems that I see something on a daily basis where someone is blabbering about - before digital, back when we shot film, before the cost of cameras were low enough the average person could get one, before digital processing dumbed down craft, how basically anyone new to photography is clueless and doesnt deserve to participate or to have the opportunity to learn, etc. Guess what, you just insulted me and many others like me. Im that guy, the average, ordinary guy that enjoys photography, doesnt know exactly what Im doing (a lot of the time), and still consider myself lucky when I get that good shot. I dont have a dark room in my house. I dont have a sponsor or companies sending me stuff to try out. Ive met some of those guys. Ive shot with some of those guys. Ive been with them on top of mountains, down in the water, endured scorching sun / freezing cold / things that bite & sting with some of them. You know the difference between you and them?? Class. They dont have to try to make others look bad. It wouldnt matter if they started giving free cameras to everyone, those that have the skill and class to be professionals would still be at the top of the heap. If you are one of the people who are constantly doing the blabbering, you need to stop. Or, go away. Or both (even better). If you cant stop or go away, then you need to find me and insult me to my face, and others to theirs. Dont hide behind a computer screen slinging out vague insults. Really want to impress someone? Show them how good you are by helping them. If you cant help or encourage them, then you need to get out of the way. The thing is, if you have to bring people or their work down in order to build yourself up or to allow you to feel better about yourself... you need to do that in person, face to face... not on Facebook. That being said, Im now taking appointments for those who want to look me in the eye and insult me, my abilities, or my intelligence. NEXT!!!!!
