OK, the early October trip yielded some progress and we continue to get a little closer to actually opening the place up. My biggest issue is the floors, I have to have them in their FINAL state of readiness when we start unloading the container at the building. I really dont want to have to move this stuff too many more times before it belongs to someone else. The biggest delay and most bizarre is why is it taking so long to go through the process to get permission to operate a business in this location and building. You would think that Merida would be a little more business friendly and encourage something like this that takes an old vacant building, freshens it up, creates jobs and brings in sales tax revenue. Anyway, Im a stranger in a Spanish speaking land, so Im just going to ride it out and take the licking with a smile on my face and an attitude of Im just HAPPY to be here. So lets think that maybe early to mid December will be something realistic to shoot for re getting the doors opened. The building is coming along GREAT. My architect/GC Jesus is doing a good job. We meet regularly and are slowly getting each other and learning how to best work together. I know that the next project that I do with him will be even smoother and more efficient now that I have some local experience with this type of development. Its always GOOD to be able to tell my mom that I have a meeting with JESUS every weekday at 10AM. I think she worries less about me down here since she thinks Im spending so much time with Jesus ;-)
