OK, those of you that know me appreciate that there are times when I have a little moan on here. Not just about kittens, uninformed opinions, bad grammar and all the other things that put the I in irascible but also about matters outside the weird world of Facebook. Ive ranted about Tibet, customer service, how Wagon Wheels have reduced in size over the years, the vast number of creams in Quality Street and many other important global issues but THIS one has capped the lot. Sky Sports are broadcasting a football match in the USA featuring my team (oh, and thats proper football, not a bunch of nancies in helmets who can only run 10 yards before they need a 3 hour break). Id missed the start so settled down to get into the game and, suddenly, the game disappears and there are several minutes of commercials. Is it half time already? Have I slept through some? I was totally mystified until, the game returned and I realised theyd broken transmission in the middle of play just for sodding commercials!!!! Now, I know that my American friends are somewhat commercially orientated and good luck to them but ........... when they take OUR game and start piddling about so I lose half of the match then I am tempted to sever diplomatic relations. Is it any wonder we gave you away if you do things like that? In this country, the Advertising Standards Authority decree that all TV commercials should be decent, legal, honest and truthful. May I add a further criterion i.e. and not in the middle of a fecking match either!!! Bloody colonials !
