OK...today, its an enormous Thank You to Herbert Ditmars Eldert Jr for giving me my love of music and the drums. Always music on in the house, on the hi-fi, and even you & Mom dancing in the living room. This iconic tune played over & over (especially the live Carnegie Hall recording with its atmosphere and suspense) got deep in my soul and got me banging on pots & pans and plastic buckets. So it was decided I ought to take some lessons. Every drummer needs to thank the parents who encouraged them and didnt make a face at the noise. Id get home from school and wail away on my kit in the basement til Dad got home and he flicked the lights on & off from the switch at the top of the stairs--the signal to cool it. But there were many times Id play til I was spent, come upstairs to find Dad reading the paper with his Dewars & soda. Just letting me do my thing. For this and for everything, I love you, Dad. (My computers in the shop so all my best scans of H.D.E. are inaccessible...but many of you know his face.)
