OK.....while Im still warming up after my rainy, damp Open House - TopicsExpress

OK.....while Im still warming up after my rainy, damp Open House this afternoon, Im enjoying a big bowl of freshly popped popcorn while I watching the final of round 4 where UCONN beat Michigan State a few moments ago. I finally have time to tell a funny, but yet not so funny story of how my day began. Are you ready for this? Well, completing the last of four stops to set out Open House signs, I noticed a couple of riders on the ground near the entrance to our complex. I had some extra ties in my car, so went over to re-attach these. Now mind you, Im all spiffyed up for my Open House; nice slacks, suede jacket and little black flats. So, as I approached this sign by the road, I felt the earth beneath me begin to sink. This was probably due to all the wet snow and now rain weve been getting all winter long. What would you do? Try to back up, get back on the road, basically get out of there...right? HA! Well, I tried. But it was like quicksand, and I was going down, down, down. I kid you not! I panicked, I twisted, I tried to pull my foot up, out of this mud, but no.....I kept going in!! By the time I was in over my ankle, I lost my balance and fell backward, landing on my rear, in more wet, soggy, mush! I did get my foot out, but no shoe!! All I could see was a large chocolaty looking spot where my foot had gone down. I HAD to get my shoe!! So now, all that was left for me to do, was to reach down into this muck and see if I could feel for it. SUCCESS!! I got my shoe, but it was no longer black! It was full of mud, the consistency of pudding....absolutely covered and full of mud. And the left shoe was almost as bad. Feeling lucky to have escaped being swallowed alive, I grabbed my shoes and ran back to my car in my bare feet. My stockings were now covered in mud, as well as my pants. Whatever I touched was muddy.....my hands were covered so everything I touched, well, the mud transferred. There was mud on the door handle, steering wheel, brake lever, gear shift, seat, trunk (where the signs were)...you name it. And I was expecting Buyers in a few minutes! CRAP! Into one of the models I ran, shoes in hand. Upstairs I ran to the tub where I could actually get my leg up and into, as the sinks were way too high. I turned on the water (only cold) to rinse out my shoes, stuck my foot and pant leg under the water to rinse out all the muck. And thank God I had a washcloth in my car, because I used it to help clean up. Then I had to wipe all the mud off my butt (black slacks) and try to look presentable. I couldnt have been more exasperated!! Ever wear soaked shoes for 3 hours and sported a hairdo that made you look like a drowned rat while trying to look presentable while trying to sell half million dollar condos?? OK....funny now, but at the time.....I was not a happy camper!! Ohhhh, some of the things a Realtor goes through for her clients!! But lesson learned: Dont try to fix a sign thats on a new construction site where the earth just might be a little soft!! (A LITTLE?????? I thought I was a gonner!!) OK...go ahead....you can laugh now! ;) It was a good Open House and plenty of people came through, never knowing what Id been through earlier. :) LIFE IS GOOD!!
