OKAY…I have a rant…I may walk on some toes here but I got to tell you what just happened to me. First, let me say this to clear the air…and those that feel like they want to attack, PAY ATTENTION here: I DONT CARE if you HIGH FENCE hunt or not; that is YOUR prerogative. It is YOUR CHOICE and doesnt AFFECT me ONE IOTA. I would NEVER take that away from anyone. It is not a secret that I am NOT a proponent of high fence hunting but I would NEVER rally or speak against it. It is just my PERSONAL choice NOT to high fence hunt in North America regardless of acreage. It shouldnt matter ONE IOTA to you either. Here is my rant. I am sitting here in Starbucks, minding my own business, wearing a Mathews ball cap with a few outdoor company stickers on the lid of my laptop…so, if you are a hunter, you would premise that I am too. A man that I didnt know nor one that I invited to INVADE my space comes up to me and hands me a phone with a 225-235+ class buck that had wide blades at the end of both beams, double bladed G-2s, double drop tines, and double brow tines. I look at the photo and I say, WOW! Beautiful buck. I ask, What state? He replies, GEORGIA. I ask, HIGH FENCE? The man rudely snatches his phone away from me and walks away. FIRST OFF, IF you are a high fence hunter, WHY would you NOT be proud of THAT buck and reply, YES! I harvested him at (Fictitious Outfitter Inserted here)! Why would you get mad and walk off?? That angers me that a hunter would not be proud of taking the life of an animal that the good Lord put on this earth for sustanance regardless--totally disrespectful to the animal. I was so angry that he acted that way that I HOPED he did not return to my table because I promise you, he would have walked away a different man after I schooled him. IT is your harvest, be proud of it.
