I talked of how we bumped into one Scholar, former KU VC Prof. Everett Standa. And before the dust could settle down, one Alan Wadi , a student who is not in the vicinity of Main Campus nor is a student in session, had put up a post that the chairman and I had already been paid Sh46,200 to pull out from the looming universities strike. So funny and creative of him. When did the VC start dishing out money like Sonko? And then my friend Dikembe Disembe decided to pick the update and publish it at Kenya Today- News & Analysis. Well, i am dumbfounded by wadis imagination. Secondly, i am deeply disappointed that a sane comrade would come up with such grave, character assassinating allegations. To put things clear here, we wanted to meet the VC Prof. Mibei over fourth years reporting dates. We wanted to push for fourth years to come back alongside third years in June. We wanted to argue out why Fourth years need to come and complete their education in time now that KPA (town campus) will be vacant from June to September. But we couldnt reach the VC. He was so held up! We had to wait at the reception where luckily enough, we met Prof. Everett Standa, the former secretary of The Commission of Higher Education who oversaw the formulation of the fee payment per unit cost which has not augured well with the comrades. By the end of our one hour wait, we did not manage to meet the VC. And having a lot to do, we left for Eldoret town hurriedly, with an intention of meeting with other student leaders in the North rift region to issue a statement over tomorrows strike. And that is the true side of the story. You have it right there. As for tomorrows strike, let me be categorically clear. WE ARE NOT FOR THE FEE INCREMENT. However, we want to put it clear that the demos will not be held at Moi university main campus but at Eldoret town. Why? Because the examinations are in a weeks time! And as responsible student leaders, we believe no one has any right to stop Main Campus students from revising and taking their last minute CATS! And as such, any demo will be in Eldoret town not Main Campus. Nevertheless, we assure all comrades, our supporters and all our friends/enemies, that FEE increment is a NO!
