OMAHA (April 25, 2014)-- Jerry and Christy McGlothin, Executive Producers of “A Long Way Off,” today announced that Omaha NE has been selected as the city of choice to premier their movie, a modern retelling of the story of the Prodigal Son. The premier exhibition is on May 16, 2014 at 7:00 pm Central Time and is being presented and hosted by two Omaha radio and TV personalities who appear in the movie. A song from the movie will be performed and there will be giveaway of CD’s and other surprises. “Omaha is an ideal choice as it embodies the Midwestern culture and family values,” Jerry McGlothin explained, adding, “It is also the home of Karen Sokolof Javitch who wrote and performed The Coffee Shop song for the movie and Andy Greenberg, whose motivational book and radio show, Your Daily High, appear in the movie. A Long Way Off will have an invitation-only Hollywood movie critics screening on May 6 at The Landmark Theater in West Los Angeles, as well as a scheduled national theatrical release on Father Day, Sunday, June 15. The movie stars Robert Davi (James Bonds License to Kill; Goonies; Diehard), Edie McClurg (Ferris Buehlers Day Off), John Diehl (Stargate), Jason Burkey (Moms Night Out and October Baby) and features talk show hosts Sean Hannity and Michael Medved. The story is based on the tale of the Prodigal Son taken from Luke 15:11-32 but is set in modern times. After demanding and receiving millions from his father as an early inheritance, Burkey’s character leaves the family farm and enters a life of fast women, fast cars and unsavory friends and bad business deals. As his life crashes down, he returns humbled and reconciles with both his earthly and Heavenly Father. “The timing of this movie is perfect. Faith-based movies such as Gods Not Dead, Noah, and Heaven is for Real are the talk of Hollywood and quite popular with general American audiences,” concluded McGlothlin. The film production company Uptone Pictures has produced Destiny Road and other movies that have been seen around the world. Karen Sokolof Javitch is an award winning Omaha Native with 13 CD’s, 3 musicals and 3 songs that appear in various movies. Karens radio show “It’s the Beat” is heard every Saturday on The Mighty 1290. Andy Greenberg is featured daily on News Radio 1110 KFAB ‘s Good Morning Show” with a daily segment called “Getting UP with Andy Greenberg,” and has a nationally syndicated radio spot heard by millions daily called “Your Daily High with Andy Greenberg”. Andy has authored a book and in May will have his own TV show titled “Your Omaha High.” The Marcus Theatre at Village Point in Omaha will show the movie beginning May 16 for at least one week.
