OMG. O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I got an email from James Zobel, the MacArthur Memorials Archivist, and weve arranged to meet on 4 December, right? My special field of study is the history of Santo Tomas Internment Camp -- where close to 4,000, mostly American, civilians were held by Japanese occupation forces in Manila during WWII. Over the last 15 years Ive been studying and researching this, some of the surviving internees have become my dearest friends. One of them, Sascha, is someone you might have seen in Ken Burns PBS documentary about WWII. Shes like a second mother to me. Literally. She calls Mr. Zobel Jimmy and says hes a nice boy. *facepalm* She says I can share her hotel room at the next internee reunion in Norfolk, April 24-27 2014, if I can get funded to go and maybe be a guest speaker. :o Excuse me, I need a paper bag to breathe into. O.o
