OMG!!! This is so true!!! in 2012 when I was laid off Ralphs social security was exactly that amount... with monthly after medicare and all the dedutibles and his medications for blindness etc is about 1,000. I got 6 months unemployment @ 880$ a month considered high in Florida! We were not eligilble for any other assistance. I had no health insurance at all! I had worked my whole life since age 14 and I was 54. I had been a professional worker with work insurance since I was in my 20s. Paid taxes all my life. Even when I was in a shelter at the age of 24 years old as a battered wife the 1st marriage I worked as a waitress@ 1.01 an hour + tips and I paid the shelter. I did not qualify for assistance at any agency. I was a single parent without a car or belongings. I did not whine, cry or expect anyone to fix it for me. When is American going to stop private for profit medicine? Social medicine is not the evil. What is evil is what is listed on this salary sheet. The few in our country that get what the majority in our country do not while they hide behind the curtain like the Wizard of Oz and trick every one with their game! Follow their GREEN road $$$$ in the budget and you will see. Look who got what in the shut down! Dont let the Tea Party/Political special intrest group Wizards Fool you. American people are of the people and for the people....and God is smarter than all of this!!!!! :)
