OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what happened today……. After a fantastic week of shows….. my opening act that picked me up and drove me to Laughlin was driving us back to LA way too fast again after yelling at him to slow down. We get pulled over by the Police in the Mojave Dessert in the middle of nowhere. As the cop is running his drivers license the comic tells me he has 11 speeding tickets. The cop returns to tell us that the driver’s license is suspended and he is going to have to impound the comics rental car for 30 days. Once again we are in the middle of nowhere. So….. they impound the car and the next thing I know we are struggling down the 2 lane country highway with no sidewalk and all of our luggage, computers and show equipment a half mile to Billy Bobs convenient store to call a cab or tractor. Did I mention it is starting to rain? Some guy in a pick up truck takes us ten miles to Enterprise to rent my own car and finding out that a one way rental and drop off in LA for one day is nearly $300. I tell the other comic that he has to pay for this rental as well. Enterprise will not let him rent a car without a license and will not except his credit card. Arrrrrrg! I end up renting the car and for the next four hours try and help him get this fixed… somehow. The court will not give his license back and will not release the car to him. He has a court date with the Judge this Wednesday in Bullhead City, AZ. I finally got home after 12 hours and he is sitting in a crap motel for the next two days, no license, no car, no money, not a single luxury………… What’s the magic phrase? “Nothing Works Without Integrity” Glad to be home.
