OMG... what a BS article... read the disclosures of the authors... how absurd. as far as bHRT goes ........ women are benefiting 10-fold due to bHRT (a correction to the information given in this piece... while estradiol (E2) is certainly in the compounded mix.. estrone (E1) is not.. so that is some mis-information there... it is usually estriol (E3).. the safest of the female hormones. Also equaline and other horse derived estrogens are missing from bHRT unlike Premarin. Good for post-menopausal horses if you ask me, but not for human females. Also it should be noted that for those without coverage, bHRT is actually less expensive and if INS would cover bHRT it may be the least expensive therapy. My clinical practice if proof enough that bHRT trumps standard FDA approved therapies... oh and by the way Estratest was not FDA approved and thousands of OB/Gyns wrote for it and still do.
