OMISORE, AKINBADE ACCEPT DEFEAT Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said he will not be deterred by the outcome of the election but move forward in life. Reacting to the outcome of the election through a statement by his media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, Omisore said: “We would not be deterred because of the development. What we lost is the Osun State governorship election; we did not lose lives. We thank the Lord for every thing. In all situations, I will continue to give glory to the Lord because the Lord knows better than us and He alone has answers to all questions.” Omisore said he would remain in the PDP, just as he hinted that he was still reflecting on the outcome of the election. “Falling down is not new in politics, rising up is the strength of a good leader. We shall bounce back. Congratulations to the people of Osun State because we all won,” he said. Also, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, said he had accepted the outcome of Saturday’s election and congratulated the winner, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, on his victory at the polls. Akinbade, however, contended that his head remained unbowed, as he did not regret partaking in the election as the standard bearer of the LP. In a statement by his Director of Media, Mr. Kayode Oladeji, the LP gubernatorial candidate commended the process that eventually produced the winner. According to him, “by and large, the whole process was fair and I congratulate the winner, Governor Aregbesola. In every contest, there must be a winner. However, I must let us know that my head remains unbowed because I don’t regret anything. Some lessons have been learnt and I thank my supporters for their doggedness.” Though he lamented the exercise was characterised by financial inducement, Akinbade, however, condemned the APC and the PDP for dropping his name, a development he noted confused his supporters and admirers across the state. “Now that Aregbesola has emerged, one can only advise that he settles down for real business of governance by divorcing it from politics,” he said.
