OMW!!!!! (that means oh-my-word). I had such a nice time and was thinking what a beautiful day it is until we just started coming into Babb. My smile froze and I could feel my face get red hot as I looked at the most ignorant sign that someone put up in Babb. We have no idea who it was...but the sign says Welcome to sinaikatapisko (cree village) Its right before you turn into Bedrock. Its bad enough we have always all heard people refer to us as that but to see a sign actually saying that is down right insensitive.. This is Blackfoot territory. WE are the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. We are part of the Blackfeet nation. How rude. That would be like going to Rocky Boy and calling it Blackfeet Village. It would be inappropriate and we have better manners than that. We dont like that sign....nor do we like the fact that you voted today to give every other village on the Blackfeet Reservation high speed internet ..except us. WE want that sign removed and we want access to high speed internet. As a matter of fact, the community of Babb will be calling for the elders who have the transfers and right to do so in our community to give Babb a new Indian name for our village in a public ceremony. Then we will ask all the elders and leaders to refer to us by that new name. I will keep everyone posted on when that will take place.
