BACH: Musical Offering, composed by the elderly genius as a gift for His Royal Majesty, King Frederick II of Prussia after Bachs triumphant performance at the enlightened monarchs palace. The balls, dinners and soirees were frequented by Voltaire, and some of the finest minds and artists of the Age. New compositions, paintings, sculptures, dances, clothing styles, plays, writings, architectural designs, scientific inventions, and political-economic passions were presented at each party. Tragically, the great genius, J.S. Bach, was rarely paid anything for his work, which others so admired. Bach died in extreme poverty. His widow had to use his manuscripts to stuff the holes of their tiny home to keep the snow and rain off the survivors of Bachs 20 impoverished children. Meanwhile, his wealthy admirers played and imitated his music and praised the late geinus. I knew him, he once performed here, they would brag.
