ON Monday, a mountain-size, third of a mile across asteroid, - TopicsExpress

ON Monday, a mountain-size, third of a mile across asteroid, called 2004 BL86, will come within only 750,000 miles or 1.2 million km from our planet — about three times the distance separating the Earth and the moon. This will be the largest rock to come that close until 2027, when a slightly smaller asteroid, 1999 AN10, may come closer to Earth than the moon. What makes Mondays flyby unusual is that it will be bright enough to see with small backyard telescopes.
